Which social media site drives the most traffic to the rest of the web? If you think it's Facebook or Twitter, you're definitely wrong.

StatCounter new data shows that StumbleUpon is the most dominant source of traffic among the world's top social media sites. For the first 18 days of August, StumbleUpon accounted for 50.27% of all referral traffic from the top 10 social sites. The second is Facebook with a 38.9% market share, while Reddit, YouTube and Twitter each garnered less than 4%.

Yes, to say the least, the stats are surprising. Few days ago, I posted an Article that StumbleUpon surpassed 25 billion clicks of its StumbleUpon button and the traffic of this site has been growing rapidly. StumbleUpon has nowhere near as many users as Facebook or Twitter but it does track approximately 3 million websites which is a very decent sample size.

Of course, StumbleUpon's traffic of 12 million could not beat the 750 million of Facebook but its service clearly grows by influence to drive more traffic.

Hello Guys! Did you know that StumbleUpon has reached its milestone? Two days ago, its famous Stumble button has been clicked more than 25 billion times.

SumbleUpon Community Manager Monica Semergiu said in a tweet, "Today we celebrate the 25,000,000,000 billion clicks of the Stumble button."

The social media company has been on a roll ever since it was spun out from eBay in 2009. In November 2010, the social site hit 12 million users and last month it reached 44 million stumbles in a single day which broke its mobile usage record during the year's Super Bowl.

Since last April to date, StumbleUpon hit 1 billion stumbles per month.

Though StumbleUpon doesn't receive same type of media attention such as Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare or Google+gamer, it has quietly grown into a social media powerhouse with millions of loyal users. The result has been a solid business that StumbleUpon has to celebrate its 10th year anniversary this coming November.
